About Us

ONCE UPON A TIME

Well it all began many moons ago in an underground tiki hideaway where inhibtions were left at the door. This is where Sammy Skulls and Olly Islands would first meet and spend many a night entertaining an unusual and eccentric crowd. Tropically inspired, their lifelong obsession with the hawaiian shirt would begin. From print collectors to fabric addicts and on to stitching shirts, these lively garments kept the good times a rolling. It was time to make their own.

SUSTAINABLE FABRIC

First things first, only the best fabric will do. Our shirts are made from sustainably sourced eucalyptus trees, a unique breathable fabric that has a cooling effect due to its moisture wicking weave. The fine, even structure of the fibres makes for a smooth, soft fabric that is pleasant on the skin.

THE FABRIC LAB

The making of our fabric is an environmentally responsible closed loop production process, which transforms wood pulp into breathable fibers with high resource efficiency and low ecological impact. This award winning solvent-spinning system recycles process water and reuses the solvent at a recovery rate of more than 99%, a dramatic improvment on fabric production. The process also creates a smooth surface that enables color dyes to penetrate deeply into the fiber structure, resulting in impressive color brilliance.

THE ART HOUSE

Lets take a trip to the art house where vibrant colours and deep sea creatures lurk. It’s here you’ll find Skulls and Islands creating original art works inspired by the tropics. Blissed out in their tropic surrounds inpiration is everywhere, electric jellyfish, turqoise seas, blue ring octopus—tall palm trees. Fabrics now laden with prints it’s time for the tiki taylor.

THE TIKI TAYLOR

Our shirts are all made on the beautiful island of Bali by our good friend Ketut and his team of amazing tiki tailors. Ketut has been making clothes for decades and all of our garments are made to last.
